Torque and Chrome

What did we Americans do before cell phones, Ipods and SUVs?

Those in their 30s and older may understand more than teens and those in their 20s, but before you think gas prices are high and you are living in tough times... What did we do and how did we manage back in the 60s, 70s and 80s, before we all had our own individual cell phones instead of just one land-line phone, before we had 120 cable TV channels on a instead of 10 local channels, before we just had to have that $400 video game system and $1000 laptop computer, when we bought regular coffee drinks instead of $5 Starbucks, before we had DVD players not only in our home, but inside our vehicles with $2500 custom chrome rims, which brings to mention, how did we get along in 4 passenger sedans instead of huge trucks and SUVs? Looking back, we somehow managed to have fun with life and managed to run large companies without the aid of personal computers, and cell phones, we spent time together with our family at the dinner table instead of texting mom over our camera phones.

  1. i wouldnt mind living in those times to be honest... but they seemed to manage fine i think! there was definately more of a social life i think
  2. We did without, you never miss, what you never had. Most of the babies teethed on the rails of cribs and high chairs that had lead in the paint. Ate bugs, licked the dog and cat, and some how actually turned out healthy and are still alive.! The Ed Sullivan show actually cut away because Elvis shook his pelvis....And Clark Gable actually said a swear word in the movies......lol Imagine that....Mayberry USA, a quieter, gentler time and much the better for it....The family unit has turned into rush hour 101, fast foods and indigestion, kids with too much money and too much time on their hands, and wanting more...................thank you
