Torque and Chrome

I took my chrome wire wheels(spoke,100 count) off of my car. They are now getting rained on, will they rust?

They are in a friends truck, he has no tarp to cover the wheels with.

  1. they shouldn't. Where would they be if they were still on your car? Do you think they would rust there?
  2. Didn't they get wet on your car?
  3. If they have been scratched through the chrome and nickle they will other wise no
  4. Ah yeah best dry them off and store them in a dry building. Basement "NO" unless heated.
  5. They should be fine, unless the truck they are in keeps water and they sit there for an extended period of time. but if its just rain, then before long you wipe them off and do what you plan on doing with them, they will be fine.
  6. chrome shouldn't rust.. steel either.. If their rems for your car then their designed most probably to not rust.. It's ok
  7. The chrome itself should not rust but if there are no tires on them it is possible water can get between the chrome and the wheel and rust from the inside out causing the chrome to bubble..... possible but slim....If there are any small cracks around the spokes it can also happen where a Polish or protectant would help prevent it
  8. I'm sure by spring time you will have rust on them and maybe bad rust, you better get them in under cover someplace or at least put a coat of wax on them and just leave the wax on or you could use vasoline and rub it all over them and leave it on until your ready to reinstall them.
