Removing rust from chrome?

How do I remove rust and prevent it from forming again on the chrome parts of my truck wheels?

1. there is a cleaner you can buy from a parts store or even Walmart. but on a episode of mythbusters they used coke and aluminum foil and it cleaned the rust right off. but i would stick to the cleaner. now as far as keeping the rust off. i don't know maybe there is some kind of wheel protector.
2. mothers mag polish.. coke contains acid don't do that.. it will remove rust but it will return worse than ever
3. brasso and wire wool
4. low grit steel wool
