Machined Face vs. Chrome?
I'm in the market of buying new wheels for my car and have noticed that machined face rims are about $175 cheaper than chrome ones. They look 100% identical, but what is machined face made of? And is it worth going cheaper? So machined face is just a trendy word for brushed aluminum? Is that right?

- Interesting, Id like to know the same thing!
- aluminum, you can polish it to look like chrome, or almost
- The machined face just refers to the finish of the wheel where it has been 'machined' or 'turned' on a lathe. I you look closely you will see tiny little grooves like a vynil record.(Remember them? Lol) the chrome wheel starts the same and is then polished to remove the 'machine' marks and then chromed. As you can see the chrome wheel is more labour intensive and therefor more costly to produce.
