The Chevy Monte Carlo, best classic car ?

How about that baby there? The 1988 Chevy Monte Carlo SS. How do you rate this beauty ? I was thinking about getting one myself, in mint condition. Wine colored, pearl gray, or black. With mag wheels, chromed of course. Got any opinions, on this American classic ? Best answer wins. * Of course it is a classic. In its class, it had the best body of them all. Cutlass, Grand Prix, Grand National, Ciara, and more. This baby is top notch, when done correctly.

  1. Not the best classic car, but one of the best out of the 80s. If the price is right buy it. No matter how difficult a decision you will always regret not buying it more.
  2. 1988 is not a "classic".
  3. Classic car?? LOL not even close. It is no classic. Look back about 30 more years to get a "classic" car
  4. Whoa, nice car you can pick me up anytime.
  5. Classic cars are a matter of taste. For me...1969 produced some of the sexiest cars ever built. Chevy Nova being one of my favs. The best thing about the older cars is you can work on them yourself. No electronics or computers.
  6. It is not an American "classic." It is a car that has a fan base depending upon the year of the model and the numerous design changes. Some "sporty," others not not so. Bottom line is it has always been a family sedan regardless of an SS badge.
  7. they look good, but their not the best classic car of all time,if i were going to get a Monte Carlo i would want a 71-72 model for a classic, their worth more money ,if you can find them, but the 88 does look really good, there's still plenty of those around though ,and their not very expensive right now 3500 ,you can by one anywhere right now, good luck with it.
  8. Not my favorite car - or year I prefer the pre 80's model cutlass - or regal
  9. My favorite is the 75 the last one with the round headlights. Specially with swivel bucket seats! Nice!!!!! Any Monte Carlo is fine in my book. Those late 80s they did good except for the Aero Monte Carlo, that rear window did not do any justice to that car. Before some idiot take one and place 20+ inch rims and some funky hydraulics and hip hop the crap out of it, go get it. I would if I have the cash.
  10. They are really nice LOOKING (I had a '86), but the 305 motor is a let down. If you want it to RUN like it looks, you have to do a engine swap.
  11. A decent looking car and the last of the rear wheel drive Montes. I think my 70 Monte SS is a better classic.
  12. This is not a classic, it could probably, and i repeat probably could be a classic in around 20 years in the future, another reason is that there are toooo many of them and their fairly cheap and every year the price depreciates.Try getting a 60s or 70s car if u prefer american muscle. But if ur into mordern muscle try getting a 94-96 impala ss, unlike the montes the impala are keeping their values, now thats a classic.
  13. it was an ok car but a problematic one, always something on a chevy breaking . anything after 1972 wasnt that good . unless it was a rear wheel drive Ford
