Torque and Chrome

Have a 2002 Jeep cherokee limited that have the chrome wheels pealing and the wheel frames turning to powder?

Anyone else dealing with Jeep/chrysler on this issue. Bad chrome wheels.

  1. Chrome wheels tend to peal anymore as most are done cheaply. They peal cause the back side is not prepped so it cannot stick well and time begins to peal. The power you see is the aluminum wheels oxidizing. Only fix for this is to have the wheels stripped and re-dipped in chrome. Normally you can find new or used rims cheaper. Most rims are not made by the manufacturer so normally they are not part of any warranty that is on the car.
  2. ...no...
  3. if there stock rims. 1st- take them off, and put them off to the side you will need them later. 2nd- Buy 16 inch aluminum rims with a set of off roding tires. 3rd- if jeep cant handle new tires put a 1 1/2 - 2 inch lift kit on the jeep then place knew tires and rims on jeep. 4th- look at jeep and smile and wonder what made you start all that and look at the rims you put aside. know you now. AKA other things you might need later -rock rails -fog lights -skid plate -lots of riding land for off roding -Biger Engine some thing with more power HAVE FUN
  4. thats chrysler for you all their chrome wheels peel you may be able to get the dealer to cover some of the cost of replacing them with the newer wheels which is claimed to have solved that problem just ask any pt cruiser or ram truck owners i think they get them for free under a good-will warranty
