Is it possible to get a bent rim repaired?

My R1 has a bent chrome front rim. Would it be possible to get this repaired? Or would i have to buy a brand new rim? Being that its a chrome rim, I'd imagine that it'd be much cheaper to get it repaired as opposed to buying a new and expensive rim.

  1. not likely
  2. Do you really want to ride on a "repaired" bent front rim? Get a new one.
  3. in short dont repair it as even a small bend can cause hair line cracks ,given that it is a front wheel AND an r1 is it worth the risk of your wheel letting go at speed
  4. From having damaged rims before.. they can be repaired. Check and see what the cost is for repair as it may be cheaper to replace the rim.
  5. yes you can get it fixed a company such as wheel masters will do it if you can find pull-a-part in you area you can buy 1 real cheap about 15 dollars but you might have to have it shipped
  6. are you one of these sport-bike riders that have been on here asking how to stunt ?
  7. Possible? Yes. Safe? No
  8. REPLACE!
  9. Just remember You only have two wheels that your life are depending on do you want one of them to be a "repair job wheel" especially if its the front !!
  10. As it is a chromed wheel there is a good chance that it will crack the plating allowing water in to corrode the wheel, so you would have to have it stripped and rechromed as well as jigged up. A cast alloy wheel can be rejigged safely within limits but personally I wouldn't take the chance.
  11. That's a safety hazard. I really wouldn't want to ride on a compromised rim. Just get a new one. It's not the cheapest option but when you think about the medical bills and repair bills you'll have when a tire blows out on that repaired rim it may be cheaper to go new.
