Is it possible to strip down chrome to expose the nickel plating?

Hello. I have a set of older chrome motorcycle handlebars that I would like to have nickel plated instead. Just wondering if there is a way to chemically treat them to expose the nickel plating underneath, or if I am just better off having them stripped down and re-plated. Thanks in advance :) Jon R.

1. Strip them down and re-plate.
2. The nickle is bad-ass, you will have to send them in for a re-coat, while you are at it, what else do you want, if money is flexible?
