how to modify the normal chrome bath to get a thin dense chrome plating layer?

Just want to know how to get a thin dense chrome plating layer, which I know is a crackless chrome coating. Any idea?

Total charge transferred through the cell controls the amount deposited Believe if rate of charge transfer is slower the layer deposited is denser. perhaps look up a Youtube video called "Grow Silver Metal Crystals by Electrochemistry" by a user called Nurd Rage. as that's got a time lapse video of growing silver crystals by electrochemisty,and you can see how on a microscopic scale, the structure grows at different rates of current/solution strength. Should be somewhat applicable to chrome plating too.
