Torque and Chrome

I'm using Google Chrome as my IE. Do I have to pay to have a custom app on the first page?

When I was using Microsoft IE, I had icons for my frequently visited websites on a tool bar across the page. With Google Chrome, you have to do to their web store to obtain these icons and then they appear on the first page when you log in. However, I used to create custom apps simply by selecting that options using Yahoo and type in the web site. With GC, it looks like I have to play to create a custom app. Are they serious? If so, how do I set up a book mark?
