toilet flange bolt recommended torque?

Does anyone have an idea as to how much torque (in-lbs or ft-lbs) I should tighten toilet flange bolts? I've over tightened before and ruined the plastic flange and have replaced everything and want to use a torque wrench... any suggestions?

  1. Just a tiny bit more than hand tight. Tighten the bolts again in a few weeks. Do not over tighten them or you will crack the flange once again.
  2. Put the torch wrench down. Snug...that's it.
  3. Just tight enough so the toilet can't be moved around if you push it sideways
  4. I don't think you have ruined anything, just go the store and buy some fender washers and they will work. As far as tightening them up, I put all power tools away and tighten them with a adjustable wrench. They have to be tight because the toilet will rock and that's not good, something like 8 ft lbs.
