how do you keep your wheels shiny?

I have crome wheels on my truck. When I use the cleaner they good for about 5 days, then they cloud over. Anyway to prevent that? And also the pit rust that gathers on the crome covered mirrors, cant get it all off, but its plastic, afraid if I scrub too hard, i'll scrub the chrome off.

1. dont use a cleaner, use polish. i forgot but there is a good one that comes in a blue can.
2. plastic covers are easy to remove, just pull it, when installing back, align the air valve to position the slot on the cover. use "tire black" a liquid gel for tires, available on auto supply shops. it will keep your tire shiny and new looking.. or wipe the sidewall with used oil, same effect..but wash it first with detergent soap and water,
3. You might try this to see if it's easier to keep the wheels clean: When the rims are *stone cold spray the chrome wheels with Eagle 1 Chrome and Wire Cleaner. Let it sit on the wheel 3 minutes and scrub with a nylon covered sponge, Immediately rinse off with a garden hose. When you're finished cleaning each wheel and they're dry, wax the wheels with Pure Mothers Carnuba Paste Wax. Let the wax dry for at least 10 minutes and buff the wheels with a terry cloth towel. If and when the wheels get dirty again, wash with Mothers car wash soap. I don't have a real plan on cleaning rust pits on chrome covered plastic, other than using *mild abrasive automotive chrome cleaner. I have an idea you may have semi-metallic brake pads on your truck which will always make wheels dirty soon after cleaning. Next time you change brake pads, try using most any brand of ceramic pads.
4. Try cleaning then polishing them then add a coat of wheel wax to seal them......
5. there are a few automotive web companies that sell wax and stuff to maintain your car. a few of them have special cleaners and then you put on SPECIAL wheel wax, this wax has a higher temp rating so it stays on the wheels try searching on the web for automotive companies that sell stuff like waxes and cleaners specially for cars one is auto geek smile good luck
