Torque and Chrome

Is it possible to buy a used truck these days that doesn't?

Have big chrome wheels on it? I mean every truck and SUV seems to have hideous aftermarket wheels on it. Do people actually think that looks good?

  1. Apparently they do. I've seen $200 cars with $1,500 tires and rims. It doesn't make sense to me either. Of course you can always put normal rims on and sell the chrome ones if you buy one like that. Thinking seems to be "More chrome makes it go faster."
  2. As a former repoman, the reason you see that is not because these idiots spent thousands on their rims, because they didn't, they just spend 50 a month, to rent the rims from a Rent N Roll style place that rents rims, either that or they are being financed either way they don't own those rims, and yes I've known the repo guy for rent n roll, and he would go in the middle of the night, take the rims and put the car on blocks.
  3. Good question. If nothing else, you know people who put 24" dubs on a 1996 beat up looking GM crapbox or Ford Taurus make dumb financial decisions and will have that car repoed and back online listed at the dealer they found on Craigslist very shortly. I notice I have seen a lot of examples of that on CL BHPH lots as of late. Now if we can only have the idiots who have those same crapboxes who blare that stupid bass get their junkboxes repoed as well...
