chrome plating frame, what is purpose to chrome plate bike frame?

1. there is no real benefit besides making it look good. plus it adds weight....
2. some people prefer chrome for the bling affect rather than paint.

4. It's all about appearance. Personally, I would not chrome plate...I would nickel plate. Way more durable and the shine is just a hint nicer.

7. Corrosion resistance and chipping resistance better than paint. While those are good reasons, people just do it for show. Eby, the chrome plate process is a number of steps. Copper plate, then nickle plate, then chrome plate.
