Torque and Chrome

How can you chrome a motorcycle engine that isn't already?

I just bought a chopper and the only thing not chrome or painted is the engine. Can i take it apart and send in the jugs for chroming? Whill there be heat issues as its air cooled? Any price estimates?

  1. yes you can but it will cost quit a bit of money and riding time it normaly costs 100-2300 $$$
  2. You really don't want to chrome the jugs because of heat dissipation. As an alternative you might think about having the fins diamond cut.It adds a lot of flash to an engine. http://www.diamond-heads.com/
  3. Heat issues-most likely. best air cooling is from sandcast parts, which are slightly dull & rough finished-see BMW pre-1970 for best examples. Looks awful, but very good cooling. Urals, take note.
  4. Andy is right
  5. You don't EVER want to chrome the jugs---they are meant to dissipate heat. Very bad idea.
