chrome rims????

ok well my friend he got some 20 inch chrome rims and he sees all these cars with there rims on still in the winter with snow and everythign the rims all all still shiny and he took his off and he wants to know will it affect his rims if he puts them on in the winter and will the snow ruin them or not

  1. the snow probably won't but the salt on the roads definitely will.
  2. my buddy used to run his all year but he coated his with vasoline before winter, they looked crappy in the winter from all the junk sticking to them but they didn't rust and looked good come spring when he cleaned them off. Personally I would take them off for the winter, too much money to risk to get messed up.
  3. Chrome rusts, salt will destroy chrome rims. The rims your probably seeing are polished aluminum. Salt will not affect aluminum rims.
  4. the salt will destroy them. he is smart to remove them and run a seperate set for winter use. many high line car owners do exactly this. they have a summer wheel and rim set and a winter set. REAL car guys baby their cars....consider your buddy a real car guy.
  5. Mo but you shouldn't get snow on them.
  6. Yes it will, especially when they throw salt and dirt on the road, that will eat and destroy the chrome. Put the good rims up for the winter and use the stock rims in the snow..... be smart save the expensive rims for the good weather.
