Torque and Chrome

How do you remove rust or thick brake dust from chrome wheels?

I have a set of 22 inch chrome rims. I really dont wash them much so now they have like thick brown spots. It looks like thick brake dust or almost like rust. Is there a product that can help me take that ugly stuff off? Thanks for your help

  1. If your "chrome" rims are collecting anything you can't take off with a dry rag you probably bought them at wal-mart.... and they're not chrome.
  2. any decent crome polish shud do it...also ther is a crome polish with rust remover in most parts stores and its 1 of teh cheapest polishes .....and after u get the rims clean u shud wax them with regular car wax.......will mak cleaning them as simple as hosing them off
  3. steel wool and glass cleaner
  4. get a bag of 000 steel wool from the hardware store and go at them with it.
  5. You could also try spraying white vinegar on the chrome wheels then wipe over with a cloth sprinkled with a reasonable amount of bicarbonate of soda (powder). The vinegar and soda fizz on contact with each other, creating a great cleaning weapon. Cheap and environment friendly!
