Torque and Chrome

how can i tell if i have a chrome rim or a steel rim on my bmx?

i want too know cause if i don't ill go buy one so i can at least brake good.and about how much is a cheap good chrome rim

  1. Chrome is a plating, and not the material that the rim is made from. Chrome could be on aluminum or steel rims. Steel is much heavier than aluminum, that's a good indicator. You could test with a magnet, aluminum has no effect on a magnet. I'm assuming that you want an aluminum rim with chrome plating, since you are concerned with braking power. A chrome plated aluminum bmx rim will cost about $60. The complete wheel for anywhere between one to two hundred dollars.
