- Putting cheap doors and wheels is a bad idea it makes a nice car look like crap. A chrome grill makes a car look like trash drives it.
- The only brand name rims I would upgrade with is from an AMG model car the Monoblock II Aero is what I prefer. I wouldn't go any larger than 2" over stock I know the craze is for super larger 19, 20, even 22" rims but that is over kill, it takes away from the over all appearance of the car and then it leads to suspension lowering mods, fender rolling etc... that further defaces the value, appearance and the over all handling that the Mercedes engineers worked hard to perfect I wouldn't screw with the doors either for safety reasons IMO if you want to mod out a car experiment with a Japanese or American made car before messing with the one of the best engineered cars
- Nothing is cheap on an SL500. It just isn't the right car for anyone who likes to do things cheap. The electronics on the SL500 are more complex than the Space Shuttle, and any attempt to modify the doors is bound to create lots of trouble. Custom wheels will cost at least $500 each, plus tires. Figure a minimum of $3,000 Chrome grille and mirror covers are easy, a basic internet search will give you at least 5 companies that will be glad to take your money. But they won't be cheap. The only cheap Mercedes parts are stolen Mercedes parts.
