Torque and Chrome

Which make of motorcycle has best quality chrome?

I am thinking of buying a Suzuki Intruder vs800.

  1. The Intruder will have pretty good chrome. Suzukis in general have decent chrome, but watch out for flaking of the plastic "chromed" bits such as turn signals and various covers and trim pieces. The major, real chrome parts such as handlebars, pegs, mirrors, etc. are all high quality. And I know from experience there are a handful of factory-supplied chrome accessories for the Intruder, if that's your thing. Personally, I had a Suzuki LS650 Savage (now Boulevard S40) that I stripped most chrome OFF of to make it leaner and meaner. I'd bet I shed 20 pounds off the thing by removing the chrome and sissy bar on the rear fender and ditching the coffee can factory muffler alone. I can speak from experience that old Hondas from the 1970s tend to still have decent chrome after years of weathering. Not much rust on those bikes, even here in the hot, humid South. I had a 1975 Honda CB500T a couple years ago that still had plenty of shiny goods with no patina. Of course, Harley is the king of chrome when it comes to bikes. And they charge accordingly for any and all chrome accessories authorized and/or produced by the factory. That's one reason (out of many) that they have such a huge aftermarket supplier base for the miscellaneous chrome bits.
  2. Your choice of a bike is going to be based on - chrome..??? Thanks Mike... While chrome is not the entire ticked to getting a piece of adult female butt, it helps. It's like colorful plumage on a bird.. haha.. and the glint and glitter does make some look.. Not to mention - the sound.. Some may roll their eyes, some may actually try to make a comment to the negative, but facts are facts. Only one make of machine out there has that sound that is so well recognized and turns heads.
  3. Gotta go with lensmen2 on this one. There's an old saying that, "chrome don't get'cha home". (of course, that's not it's job. It's job is to get ya laid!)
  4. just what I look for who chromes the parts the best. you need chrome to get laid? try charm school
  5. Harley hands down.
  6. Harley has the best quality chrome on a bike.
  7. Hmmm. Honda chrome seems to last. All mine were old when I got them and the chrome was still very good. Chrome on plastic tends to flake, though. Harley chrome is the heaviest/thickest plating I've ever seen. It's also the softest I've seen and does not take wear well. The other drawback is that HD does not do full coverage plating on most parts. It's on the outside, but not the inside where it's protective value is most needed. Look at a set of stock pipe heat shields for a great example.
