  1. the best thing to do is youtube exhausts of that truck and check some options. or ask around at custom exhaust shops... its what i did. and as for paint, i think black is fine but its all personal preference!
  2. Mufflers do a good job changing tone, and aren't that expensive. Stop by an Advance Auto Parts and pick up an aftermarket muffler, brand depending on the volume / tone you want, and clamps. Remember to match the pipe size... I don't know what size exhaust is on an '87 Mazda. Magnaflow and Flowmaster are known for being very loud -- too loud for some people especially if you live in a close-knit neighborhood. I've got a Dynomax on my Dodge B2500 and I love it. It'll still have a deep rumble, but not quite as loud as MF or FM. Keep in mind though that you will never be able to emulate the classic blubblubblub of a V8 -- That noise comes from having two different exhaust pulses down the same pipe, something you can't get from a single-bank engine.
  3. You need to simply go to a shop and see if they can show you some of the sounds. It will never sound like a v8 but various configurations of headers can change the way it feeds the exhaust by separating pairs of cylinders to an exhaust pipe. Or you might get a cd that is of a v8 and just play it while you drive lol
  4. 1) while a muffler will change the tone of your exhaust, it'll just sound more snarly. The only way to REALLY change the tone of your exhaust is with an external noise generator http://www.musclecarsounds.com/details.htm 2) I can't tell you what you would like. I'd suggest looking at some episodes of "Pimp my ride" or other classic muscle cars and whatnot to get some inspiration. --- Kasey C, PC guru since Apple II days I used to have a handle on life, then it broke.
