Torque and Chrome

What does it mean to pull on click style torque wrench squarely?

Does this mean to only pull on the torque wrench handle at a 90 degree angle to the wrench square drive axis, rather then applying an inward or outward force?

  1. dont jerk it, keep 1 hand on the head of it the other arm should be str8,then lean and use your weight.also, when i torque like mains rods, i will tap the bolt head to settle them then retorque.never had a bottom end frag.
  2. True not only of the click type but all types of torque wrenches. You pull the wrench smoothly at a 90 degree angle to the bolt or nut that's being torqued. Any instantaneous jerks or universal adapters will give the torque reading an inaccurate result.
