Torque and Chrome

How can I clean melted on shoe sole off my chrome tail pipe on my motorcycle?

Seems like I have tried everything from WD40 to plain ole elbow grease. This stuff is baked on. Surely there is a way to get this stuff off, I'm sure this happens to alot of people who have had a first time rider or two on the back of their bike.

  1. Apply more elbow grease & very light pressure with very fine steel wool.....yes this has happened many times. The worst? melted flip flop.
  2. Try oven cleaner. Get the pipes hot and apply it. Just make sure it doesn't get on any painted surfaces.
  3. Well i have a under tail exhaust so i won't have that problem with beginner riders. However, you can always leave it and ride the piss out of the bike till it burns off. Or buy a carbon fiber exhaust slip on. Have you tried some chrome polish/cleaner? If there is still some rubber on the exhaust grab a plastic putty knife and try to scrap it off. But some chrome cleaner and polish should take anything else off. Good luck with that buddy.
  4. I use chrome polish paste with a piece of wool cloth.. it takes some time (up to 10 min work..) but it will take it off without scratching the chrome.
  5. Chrome polish on cold pipes. I haven't used steel wool but used a damp cloth. Just kept scrubbing and eventually I got it off. I didn't use excessive force though just steady circular rubbing motion.
  6. PAINT IT BLACK !
  7. Well first ride hard for awhial and heat it up again, then carefully with hand protection try wd40 and scrub it off
