How do you get the chrome look back on tarnished Motorcycle Manifold pipes?
Public Comments
- apart from a re chrome you cant, i take it yours are all blue from the engine heat like most used bikes are
- if it's just tarnished get a quality chrome polish. I usually use mother's mag and aluminum (or something like that) polish and it does a great job. I've only used it a few times on chrome and it works okay. a Chrome specific metal polish will probably work better. Like i said, i like Mother's brand metal polish, but Mcguiar's, never dull(?) and most anything they sell at an auto parts store that cost more than a dollar will do a good job of cleaning and shining up chrome. If it's blued like the other guy said...that's not going to come off, but you can still shine it up with the polish.
- The best way would be having them re-plated but there is a product that will remove some of it. I haven't used it personally but a family member with an old Indian has and said it did a pretty good job.The product is called "Blue Job" chrome polish I am waiting for it to arrive so I can try it out on some chrome headers that I have.
- if its blued your screwed. Have to re-chrome. If its rust/tarnish, neverdull works great. Just make sure you have lots of elbow grease too.
- Kevin is right. You can buy crome covers.
- you dont!....only stuff that might help is ''solvol autosol''...every biker has some.
