I need a good torque wrench for my dirtbike, I'm trying to spend as least amount of money but still getting a good brand craftsman wrench. It's gotta be 3/8 drive. heres two I'm looking at. http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_12605_00944690000P?keyword=torque+wrench http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_12605_00945280000P?keyword=torque+wrench Will the cheaper one work as well, also I think it needs to show in nuoton meters or something but I have an owners manuel for my bike what do you think?

- i have one like the first one i got like 20 yrs ago still just fine really any of them wil work id go to auto zone if you want cheap
- They'll both work but the click type will be easier to use. Metric does not necessarily mean the scale has newton meters. It could just show kilopounds or kiloounces. You need to find the entire range of torque specs you need, lowest to highest, and make sure the wrench can cover that range + a little more at least. Often, you'll find you need at least 2 and sometimes 3 of these.
- The beam type should work fine, 75 foot pounds should be plenty for a dirt bike. The click type is more convenient for frequent use, but loses accuracy if you don't back off the adjustment after each use. You probably will need it seldom - cylinder head bolts? A lot of the fasteners will be under 8mm (~20 foot pound). The 6mm case screws - the torque is so small, even the lightest torque wrenches work poor - about screwdriver tight. The larger bolts holding axle, swingarm, forks and such aren't likely to be an overtightening problem, and will have cotter pins or tabs, so working loose is unlikely, too. Use lithium anti seize on bolts threaded into aluminum - avoids having corrosion seize the bolt.
