Torque and Chrome

Will chrome rims/wheels rust?

I'm about to buy 20" chrome rockstar rims for my truck, but have been warned against buying chrome because they say it will chip and rust severely. I was told I would be better off getting a high polished aluminum. Is this true? I'd prefer chrome, but I dont want to spend money on something that's going to be ruined in a few years. Please help!

  1. no. you can get them. just make sure to keep them clean. Dry completely when they are washed, and once it has finished raining. Treat them like children. they need to be cared for. How do you thing all the motorcycles do it?
  2. yes they will rust if they flake i paid $375 a rim and i use a polish called metalpolish gold can best polish i ever used on these rims that was 2yrs ago no prob so far mine are 19 inch chrome vaults
  3. Be sure to keep them very clean. Tiny steel threads from atmospheric contamination that land on the rims will rust and start to bond to the wheel. Any chips or scratches may result in rust areas also.
