Whats the best and most effective way to get rid of oxidation on motorcycle chrome covers around the engine?

Personally, I have used CLR with a S.O.S. pad (no water). It's not a fast fix, but if you take your time, you won't get deep scuff marks, and then you can buff oou the covers by hand with chrome polish and keep 'em cleaned
4/0 Steel wool and Mothers Billet Polish if its just surface. If the covers are pitted, then wet sand with #600 and #1200 wet and dry sandpaper, first.
