Torque and Chrome

Cleaning polised aluminum wheels?

I have American Racing Atlas II rims on my truck that are the better part of 5 years old now. When I first got them they were shiny, but not like chrome. I used to take really good care of them, then I let the truck sit for a couple of years. I tried cleaning them today at a carwash and then with Eagle Never Dull, and they came pretty clean, but I know they can be cleaner yet. What would you recommend using on them that's safe for their finish?

  1. Try a compound for cleaning paint and buffing out paint. Try and work that on the wheels. I used those on rims and it helped.
  2. you can buy a buffer and polish meant for cleaning rims and see if that helps good luck
  3. I use chrome polish by turtle wax
  4. Key Word, AR Atlas. Those things are a pain to clean. Go to WalMart or a discount store and get one of those cheap vibrating toothbrushes. Use some rubbing compound first, then a polisher, then a good and I mean good coat of wax. There will be a lot of elbow grease involved, so don't think you get out of that. Just watch them closely, and try to get them really good and clean then sealed every 6 months or so
