Why don't women wear nylon stockings any more?

I have noticed that celebrities who are on TV etc very seldom when they wear short skirts do not wear nylons. To me nylons on a lady looks more finished, classier and what man does not dream of a lady in nylon hose. Its nearly like chrome wheels on a truck, do they make the truck run better, maybe not, do they make the truck look better, yes. So why don't women wear nylons any more?

  1. Because it has gone out of fashion...you know, like shoulder pads!
  2. becuase nylon went out like 20 years ago and stockings went out before that :)
  3. They are uncomfortable, ladder easily, old fashioned. There is nothing worse than going to the ladies room to relieve oneself, then when pulling them up again accidentally putting a nail through the fabric creating a ladder. May as well never wear them.
  4. Guess it is the sign of the times....I personally find nylons disgusting on a woman.
  5. Women don't even wear dresses or skirts anymore.
  6. Nylons are beautiful. However, you really really really should wear a pair for at least 8 hours on an active day to fully understand why women are wising up and no longer wasting their money on this faulty product. Go ahead, no one will know, wear them under your pants and your shoes. Since you are probably scared that you will get caught I will have to explain it the best way I can. I bet you you find yourself reaching down and pulling them up, as they are sized in a ridiculous way. Read the back of your package to find your size. Each size is designed to fit women from a long range in height and weight. Feels kind of uncomfortable around the crotch area huh? The worst part is, it is very difficult to make it through the day with the nylons running. This is the worst! You will be ok as you are covered by your pants, but what if you were wearing a skirt? It looks awful. By the end of the day your feet and shoes will stink! Your legs will be relieved to get out of these damn things. Oh I hope you try it, so you can experience the relief that one feels after taking off nylons! I know how you and many others feel about seeing bare legs so I only wear pants. Skirts can take a hike.
  7. Wearing nylons? Women barely wear clothes anymore!
  8. I know...it's too bad. I think that it all started back with the Sex and the City craze and the fashion diva's saying that nylons don't look good with open toe shoes. Luckily those same fashion divas have now said that open toe shoes and hosiery/nylons are in. Guess they are running out of ideas. I wear them everyday whether I am wearing a skirt/dress or pants to work as they make my legs look better. And I get a lot of compliments too. A woman without hosiery is like a man wearing a suit without socks...something is missing.
  9. Its because they watch too much TV and read about style. If they would only ask men if they want more pantyhose and nylons then they would know how we really feel. Any woman who wears pantyhose is a princess in my book.
  10. Nylons definitely still have their place, but trends do change. Some men welcome the bare legs, while others lament this recent development. Don't worry, things may swing back to nylons soon. And if garters and stockings take over where pantyhose used to be, and know a ton of guys (and gals) will be very happy!
  11. I agree with you and Nicole....TV and film had a huge influence on woman's leg wear during the late 90's till now. Just as men quit wearing ties and the overall dress code was relaxed. Also what you call nylons I think is a catch all phrase for stockings, pantyhose, thigh highs, stay ups etc. In the 30's and 40's you only had nylon stockings so they were called nylons. 100% nylon stockings or pantyhose can be uncomfy so you don't see them much anymore. I have seen more and more women going back to wearing hose so maybe that bad trend to go bare is in reverse! Thanks!
