Torque and Chrome

Can you drive on Expressway when you have custom "chrome" wheels on your ride or are they just for show.?

I'm debating on weather I should get custom chrome 22'inch rims but on my car because there are alot of people saying there just for show, meaning to ride around in town and not for traveling long distant. Cause if I do get them I will be traveling long distant out of town. Please help. And what else should I know about rims.......

  1. if they are D.O.T. approved then no problem you'll just risk getting them dirty or damaged
  2. you can drive any where you want to on them, they,ll be more than for looks, people drive great distances on those all the time, you can drive them for every day driving ,i got a set on my car and we put a lot of miles on them, there not just for around town or show off, good luck.
  3. Like Pipe said make sure if u buy the rims that there DOT oherwise they're just for show. Rims that are DOT approved can be used fordaily driving, long distance etc. Those that are not are ade for show so basically u hit a pot hole threre done.
  4. Yeah the only thing with big rims is that your car will handle/accelerate worse, you'll have a firmer ride, and you'll get slightly worst gas mileage. Other than that it will be the same.
  5. As long as they are DOT-approved, they are OK for the road. But watch what they do to your mileage efficiency and therefore your cost of gas.
