Torque and Chrome

To start rebuilding engines. What is the best range for torque wrenches?

I want to buy some junker cars and try to get them running so i can eventually do it professionally (engine repair for coupes, sedans, SUVs, passenger vehicles in general). But I don't have a lot of start-up cash so what would be the best range for a torque wrench? 80-400ft. lbs.? 50-250ft. lbs.? Should I get a torque multiplier? What about the inch pounds torque wrenches? I want to work on foreign cars so should I get a metric wrench or just convert the measurements? I also want to make high performance upgrades like adding super and turbochargers and work with aluminum blocks. Does that mean I need to get a very costly torque wrench? Is there a book I can purchase with all of this information?

  1. first u got to know the engines specks on how much to tighten them down and that u should get what ur looking 4 go to harbor freights their cheap but ur just stating and about chargers and all that its a lot of work u got to know the compression ratio because if u over do it u blow ur engine with the first try
  2. a 50 -250 ft/lb torque wrench is all u need, that will cover all automotive engines as most torques are under a 100ft/lb.i would by a ft/lb and convert some have metric as well as ft/lb. buy the best u can afford to start with and u should not have any trouble.
