Torque and Chrome

What's the best thing to use to clean chrome?

Such as on chrome wheels or bumpers? What can I do to help keep my vehicle's chrome in top shape?

  1. vinegar
  2. chrome polish
  3. Spay-on (foam) chrome cleaner and a soft cloth... the wrong cleaner or a rough cloth or paper towel will scratch the chrome. Keep on shinin' !
  4. try baby oil.. works great on stainless steel appliances
  5. if you,ll go to any advance or auto zone store they have a cleaner there that will clean chrome real good, then all you have to do is wax it like you do the rest of the car,and that will keep it looking good all the time,i do this every time i clean my truck up,this way it always stays new looking, you can ask anyone that works there and they,ll know what you need for it,good luck with it.
  6. windex works great, unless it is corroded then some sort os solvent is best, go to you nearest autoparts store(i.e. advanced or autozone) they have specialy designed cleaners just for it, and they a relitivly cheap.$5-$10 bucks
  7. Eagle One Never Dull. Can find it at any auto parts store in the polish section. It is a silver and black can. It is what they call a 'wading' cloth. You just tear off a small piece of the material inside and use it to polish just about any type of metal. I use it on my truck wheels and it works great!
  8. brass or chrome cleaner
  9. glass cleaner and s.o.s pad the best and cheapest it will only cost $2.00
  10. You should follow the car and/or wheel manufacturer's directions in their user manual. You may also check out the following links, which may have some surprising info!
  11. I use Soft Scrub. Works well, but you really have to rinse it off.
  12. Coke and elbow grease!!!, works wanders!
  13. Mothers Mag&Aluminum polish about $8
  14. Actually, the best thing I have found is cola and aluminum foil. Pepsi speicifically because the gritty nature of it makes a fine abrasive and the aluminum foil actually works as well if not better than steel wool.
  15. Simichrome polish does a nice job if the chrome's in good shape, but there are any number of specialized chrome polishes at any auto parts store like Pep Boys. If the chrome has dulled, or worse yet pitted or "spotted," #0000 steel wool and a lil' elbow grease will restore it to its original brilliance, but you have to keep on it with a good polish and wax after that.
