What products do you recommend to get rid of rust from a motorcycle?
Recently bought a motorcycle that was stored outside and has just a bit of rust around the chrome in various places. Just curious what everyone uses to clean up their bikes.

- WD-40
- flitz
- cocacola
- Use scotch bright and mineral oil. If its really bad you can use mineral oil and ALUMINUM wool. Don't use steel wool it will really mess up your chrome. You can find aluminum wool anywhere that you can find steel wool. Like Ace or True Value. My husband is a motorcycle expert! Good Luck!
- SOS pads. we always used them on the chrome fenders of our bikes.
- lubricants will not work. You need what is called naval jelly. This will kill and remove the rust so it will not come back. You can get naval jelly online or at most auto parts stores
- Simichrome Polish. It's the best SH*T there is. Trust me. Any good bike shop will carry it.
- personally i use 'auto glym metal polish' and a soft cloth, its available from any bike dealer or motorworld. failing that brasso is just as good
- Turtle "Chrome Polish and Rust Remover" works really well. For those hard to reach places with a little rust use an old toothbrush. It'll clean right up. You can get this stuff at Wal-Mart for less than 5 bucks. Edit: trprbill...yes indeed, R. Crumb at his best
- Yep, Semichrome polish and a soft rag. Rub real easy and it will work great. .. Oh, Hi Mr. Natural, I run into you a few times back in the '70's.
