Torque and Chrome

Did I make a dumb mistake?

My car was getting ready to break down so I had to get a new one. However, instead of buying something practical and cheap I went and spent $22,500 on a 06 Lexus IS250 with 18" chrome wheels and a spoiler included. I could have used this money on getting top and bottom veneers for my teeth. My teeth are slightly crooked and I have always wanted that nice bright white and straight smile.Veneers are quite expensive along with some other dental work. Am I shallow?

  1. looks to me like you traded one shallow luxury for another. i guess it depends which you find more satisfying - a nice car, or a nice smile? i think that the veneers probably would have been a better investment, but that car should last you a while if you take good care of it.
  2. There is no wrong answer. Its whatever makes you happy. If you don't mind cruise'n the streets in a sweet ride with messed up teeth, then more power to you.
  3. I wouldn't get veneers after seeing a few of my friends veneers. They all had normal teeth and got them so they could have perfect teeth. One of my friends front teeth veneers fell out and there was just a stub of her normal tooth left :( And another friends teeth look horrible, yellowed from drinking coffee alone, disgusting looking. No way will I do this unless I have thousands a year for maintenance.
  4. If you're ok with making the payments then you could keep the Lexus, tint the windows and no one will see your smile.
  5. Don't get veneers, i've heard horror stories about those things. If you want white teeth just pick up Crest teeth whitening strips at the store or your dentist can zoom whiten them for you but thats a bit pricey. And as for the car do what ever makes you happy.
