Can anyone steal my rims w/o the key/extension piece for special lug nuts?
i baught some chrome rims..i guess they are custom, It came w/t this little black piece and special lug nuts, the piece is like a key/ extension that fits into a regular lug nut wrench. Am I the only one who can take the rims off or could anyone take my rim lug nuts off w/o that piece?

- it can be done several ways that i won't go into.
- do you live if a crime ridden neighborhood, if not I wouldn't worry about it. It is possible, but it would have to be worthwhile for a thief to go to all that work.
- The idea is that that special piece is necessary to get the rims off. It's essentially a unique key. In reality, if someone really wanted to steal your rims, it could be done, but is now a fair bit more difficult. The thief would need some sort of special tool, and would risk damaging the wheel to do it. If someone really wants to steal something, it's always possible. The best you can do is make it more difficult for them, which you've done.
- There's a way to steal anything if the person really wants it. A key will only put a damper on their first attempt but if they truly want it they can go and shop around for the key themselves. Best bet would be to scribe a number or name in the inside of the rim or something paint permanent so you have some way of identifying if it gets stolen. Car alarms are a must if your into rims, aftermarket upgrades and stereos. I don't understand why ppl put $$ into things like that than don't buy an alarm. Both my neighbors cars got broken into, but mine hasn't yet since I got the alarm installed. Also park it in good lighting and away from bad area (bars, back of parking lots, alley). Good luck
- I bought some special lug nuts for my 35s so they wouldn't come up missing one day and turns out three of my friends have the exact same key.
- only if they have a torch or special tools and most people don't carry those things, it makes it too much of a hastle for thieves to get them off quick.
