Torque and Chrome

Where can I find an insurance company that insures chrome wheels?

Is there a company that will insure custom car parts like chrome wheels? Well, actually i work for Allstate and we do not cover additional equipment and if a car is damaged with rims, tv's etc, we will replace the damaged vehicle with one of the same kind WITHOUT special features like rims and tv's.

  1. Most major carriers will cover them for an additional cost. When talking to the agent, let them know you want them to be covered and what their value is. Edit: I used to have an Allstate Agency and they will cover chrome wheels. There is an option for rare/restored/altered vehicles. You will need to put in a stated amount for the car including the upgraded parts. In the notes for the policy list the upgraded items.
  2. They insure your rims as "additional or specialized equipment." Normally you will end up spending $12-15 per $100 value - but, if you don't list them, and insure them separately, WHEN they are STOLEN - the company will replace them with hubcaps. With your additional info of working for Allstate - just about ANY independent insurance agent can handle this. Just find you a local agent that you can work with and refer that type of business to them. I have seen the rims be worth more than the vehicle - and when the rims got stolen, the insurance company TOTALLED the vehicle! Good luck, drive RESPONSIBLY and I hope this helps.
