Custom searches with Google Chrome?

I just switched to Google Chrome from IE7. I wanna make this switch permanent, but I miss the little search field in the upper right corner of IE7 that you could customize to do searches on sites of your interest like youtube/wikipedia/imdb etc. It seems like Chrome insists I have to type in the sites url in the "omnibar" and then click tab before I can do a search on another site. Thats a bit roundabout compared to my old IE7 way of doing it. Any sollution?

  1. There's no way around using the omnibar, but it's pretty cool actually, once you get used to it. It automatically creates custom searches when you use a search online a couple of times, and these will also appear on the right of the New Tab screen.
