Torque and Chrome

I just got a torque wrench, it does not adjust. It just has a beam style meter to tell me how much torque?

How would i use this type of torque wrench? I have always used the kind with the adjustment knobs on the end of the handle. When using them i would gradually tighten them little by little to the final torque after they were hand snug. Would this one work the same way? Thank you

  1. Its just like watching a meter. Hold the wrench handle straight, (it swivels) and tighten the nut until the little hand points to the torque on the scale.
  2. I assume you have one with a long pointer that floats over a calabration guage up near the handle. It is simple, just put the socket over the nut and pull on the handle till the pointer arrives at the torque number required for that job. The torque amount is designed in the handle and is read by the pointer which remains straight as the handle flexes. If your job is measured in inch pounds then you need an inch pound wrench and if in foot pounds then you need a foot pound wrench plus there are other types of torque wrenches.
