Torque and Chrome

can tophat carwash be held responsible for burning my new chrome wheels?

i bought the wheels on 7-7-08 and took truck to tophat on 7-21-08, and asked for an exterior wash and paid extra for a hand washing of the wheels, when they returned the truck the new wheels had been ruined by some sort of degreaser or wheel cleaner they used , i had hand washed about 6 time since i i bought them and showed the tech what i wanted , hand washed ,, i've started contacting the bbb and the dpbr, im contacting o.s.h.a. and filling a complaint, i drive a 35,000 dollar nissan titan with 12,000 dollars in upgrades and they look at me like i want something for free, im also contacting my attorney if they dont handle this problem, my question is can they be held responsible for the damage they did , and if your in wpb and have had your wheels burned by tophat please respond ,thanks.!.... Very angry in wpb.

  1. Go to small claims court, but first you need to find out what wheel cleaner they use. Go there in a different car and see if you can spot it.
  2. I would look into the material of the wheels before I go causing any problems. Many after market wheels are not aluminum only coated and some do cheap out by getting them from less accredited sources and sell them to you and me at high prices, and tell you and me that they are high quality. In cleaning shops they use only materials that are suitable for what you are bringing in and if the wheels where aluminum there is only one thing that can actually damage them other than hitting them and that is acid. I doubt that they would use acid on your wheels. But if you wheels are steel with a coat of aluminum and they use most polishers like Mothers or such your coating of fake aluminum would wear out due to the buffing and the steel would darken behind causing a patch effect on the wheels. My buddy had that happen to his thats how i know so they had to refund his money for the rims.
