Torque and Chrome

chrome wheels, what should i use to polish them?

hi, i went to the store, and i see mothers and maguiers wheel polish that is called "aluminum and mag" wheel polish. but on the bottles, they say "do not use on chrome plated metals". thats what i have, steel wheels with chrome plating. anyone have any ideas on what is best to use? i'm always polishing my car and my friends' cars, but i've never touched the wheels, thank you for any help, mike

  1. wax
  2. warm soapy water. nothing abrasive. use a lint free cloth and some elbow grease to polish.. :)
  3. ya do not use that mag polish it'll bess up the rims bad. I like to use mothers chrome polish. make sure u use a terry cloth so it doesn't scratch the rims. it should say right on the bottle "mothers chrome polish" hope that helps.
  4. You need to buy a" Mother's ball"...It's this red ball that hooks to a drill, when you put polish on it and use it properly....it will make your rims shine like new.
  5. go to the hardware store and get a bag of 000 steel wool and go over them with it and then use your favorite wax on them afterwards.
  6. If you go to a knowledgeable wheel/car parts store Im sure someone can help you out with your needs. If you need a tutorial of how to clean them, go here http://www.customizedchromewheels.com/Wheel%20Maintenance You can even go further by removing the wheel entirely to get all the crap on the inside of the wheel and tire. Hope this helps
