How do you use a dial torque wrench?

Has Newton meters and inch pounds. Is it as simple as setting the pointer to the number and stopping when I reach that spot?

2. WELL IF IT IS ONE THAT YOU HAVE A DIAL THEN IT SHOULD CLICK WHEN IT HAS REACHED THE SPECIFIED TORQUE SETTING. IF IT IS ONE OF THOSE WITH A GAUGE AND A NEEDLE THEN YOU MUST WATCH THE NEEDLE TO SEE HOW MUCH PRESSURE YOU ARE EXHERTING
3. Yep. That easy. But love. you cannot keep pulling until you get there, you need to alow less pressure, just like filling your gas tank to exactly 10 bucks.

6. i own a repair shop,and that's how you use it tighten it down till you get to that point at which the torque should be,but never do it all at once,do it in intervals ,a little at a time ,like go to 25 pounds the first time then go up a few more pounds,this makes sure there all even,and follow the sequence also,this is the most important part of it,tighten the wrong bolt first,and you can break something,good luck i hope this help,s.
7. The guy above me is correct. If you have newton meters and inch pounds, just roll it over to the opposite side and you'll see ft pounds.. To make sure I get mine right I loosen the nob at the end and loosen the barrel part it all the way out. Then I gradually spin it to line up at 10 lb. then it adds 2,4,6,8 to the 20 mark. you'll feel it kick out when it's right.

Set the dial opposite of the desired reading, meaning if you want 200 inch pounds, set the dial at -200 inch pounds, when you are tightening the bolt or nut the pointer will then return to zero which is much easier to see at a glance than a particular number. And don't pissy foot around, know where you are going and do it in a smooth move.
