Torque and Chrome

When you use a torque wrench are you supposed to tighten the bolt until you have reached the right ammount?

Or are you supposed to hand tighten and then use the wrench to finish tightening it to the right torque? Thanks

3. i also agree with hand tightening before torque, but what the others failed to mention is dont go all the way to full torque spec the first time..For example if you are trying to torque head bolts on a gm sb...instead of just going to 65 or 70 lbs right away they should be done in a sequence so as to not warp the surface, you should start at 15 lbs the go 30 lbs then 45, then 60 then the final torque. Make sure to go through the entire sequence for all the torque stages.
