How to attach a torque wrench to an external bottom bracket?

I'm replacing the bottom bracket on my bike with an external one and the instructions advise using a torque wrench to install it. What I don't know how to do is attach the wrench to the bottom bracket so that I can use the torque settings? Can anyone help?

1. Forget the torque wrench and tighten the bolt or nut with a rachet or wrench handle one foot long. Then if you push or pull with a 20 pound force on the handle, you'll get 20 foot pounds. Many bolts and nuts don't allow the use of torque wrenches because you can't get the torque wrench in there to tighten them! However, make sure not to over tighten to the point of breaking the bolt or stud off.
