I just got a used car yesterday and it came with chrome rims, but it has baked on brake dust. It looked like the owner before me never cleaned them. Please help is there anyway to get the looking clean again.

- By some good wheel cleaner at walmart. Flitz is good as well. But they make some stuff especially made for chrome wheels. LIke meguiars. Just make sure its for chrome. Not rubber . I think you can use alloy too... it has good simple instructions on how to use but I know flitz is good (expensive) but dang good.
- any auto parts place,,or even Walmart, etc will have some squirt stuff specifically for Chrome wheels. Make Certain your wheels are actually CHROME,,,and not high-polished aluminum. There's painted wheels,,chrome wheels,,polished aluminum,,,clear-coated aluminum,,,,, they all take Different chemicals to clean them SAFELY The WRONG cleaner can easily damage the wheel's finish. So you must be certain. If you do actually have chrome,,,and have some particularly stubborn spots,,,EZ OFF Oven cleaner will do it. Spray a little just on the particular spot,,, and don't let it stay more than a couple minutes. Rinse it well with clear water. EZ Off is Harsh and Extreme....dont get any bright ideas about using it to get them clean quick & easy. JUST on TROUBLE SPOTS,,and Very Carefully. Do NOT use that on anything but CHROME,,,it will eat up anything else very Bad. Once you get them clean,,,wax them with some car wax. You can even just spray them lightly with WD40---it's not as messy as it sounds. You need to keep future build up from sticking. Dont kill yourself trying to get them perfect in one cleaning. That stuff can be STUBBORN. Do it several times over a period of time and soon enough they'll be nice again. Good Luck.
