How do you tighten the handle bars on a 2004 HD Road King Custom?
How do I remove the chrome cover to access the bolts on the handle bar clamps?

- handlebars next to the door?- if theyre is no screw or bolt to acess from the outside, you will need to go from the inside by pullin off the plastic trim on the inside to find the screw or bolt. if inside the truck check the sides of the chrome plate and look for really small screws
- There are a few more steps than you may imagine. First, the chrome trim on top of the headlight has to be removed as well because it is attached to the front side of the cover by a notched tab. To take off the trim strip, you must remove the headlight by removing the headlight trim ring and unscrewing the three screws holding the headlight bulb assembly. On the underside of the headlight nacelle near the front is a tiny nut attatched to the front mounting stud of the chrome strip on the top of the nacelle. Remove the nut and then slightly pry the halves of the nacelle apart. Then you may remove the trim strip by lifting it upward from the front, releasing the tab that is in the cover you are wanting to remove. Now, remove the trim ring from around the steering head lock, it is just plastic and will come up either by gentle prying with a screwdriver or by hand if you can get a decent grip on it. Under the trim ring are two phillips head screws that you remove. You can now take the cover off and use the proper allen wrench on the riser bolts. Now do everything in reverse to put the cover back on.
- If you bought the bike at a dealer, I would take it back to your dealer and ask to get someone to tighten them up real quick,if they give you the run around I'd remind them you bought from them and may not buy again. That worked for me with a loose headlight. Good luck
