Torque and Chrome

Question for people who have custom rims for their cars who live on the east side of the country!?

I am planning to install some chrome rims on my car but i live in the east so it snows in the winter. What should i do when winter rolls around as to not damage my rims?

  1. keep your stock ones to use in the winter or clean your custom ones at least every week
  2. Get good summer tires for your chrome rims, and a set of steel wheels with snow tires. They you have the best tire for each season, stay safe in the winter, and your chrome doesn't pit and chip from the salt.
  3. get some cheaper rims that you swap out in the winter...put winter tires on them too...that saves you the trouble of trying to drive through snow with the performance tires!
  4. just keep your stock wheelsand swap them on your ride in the winter
  5. If you're that worried, buy a stock set of wheels, mount in fall, change over in spring. You can go used or new wheels mounted with snow tires for the quick change.
  6. take them off and run your stock rims and tires or you will ruin them in less than 1 winter.
