what are the pros and cons of nickel plating vs chrome?
I am debating doing all of the trim on my 1968 Camaro in a bright nickel finish because i like the look and think that it will be a little something extra to set my car apart, but my question is what are the pros and cons of doing this instead of chrome. does nickel tarnish easily and does it need to be polished more and does it need to be sealed. just let me know what you think. thanks yes i am aware that to chrome plate something that they first plate it in copper and then nickel before chrome.

- Most people don't know this but chrome parts are nickel plated prior to the chrome plating. Usually the chrome plater will apply a thin layer of copper coating to the part prior to nickel plating and then apply chrome. Chrome is porous and even with nickle plating underneath will eventually rust. Nickel plating would look good but if you go that route, get the industrial plating, It's much heavier and the chance of any rust coming through in later years will be much less. Want to see what nickel looks like after many years, get your self a pre 1960 US five cent piece, it's about 95% nickel.
