  1. Autozone will let you rent tools. i had to rent a harmonic balancer puller today...
  2. I dont know what state you live in but in california you can go to Either autozone or Kragen but each store has different tools on hand
  3. You can get many tools for "free" rent at autozone (and now many other auto parts store). But torque wrench is probably NOT one of them. Because they can brake easily if not treated right. But you don't need to rent them. They are pretty cheap and handy to have around ALL the time. http://www.sears.com/sr/javasr/subcat.do?BV_UseBVCookie=Yes&keyword=torque+wrench&sbf=&sbv=&sbt=&fromSearch=&compare=&Filter=&prodCount=&poid_0=&poid_1=&poid_2=&poid_3=&poid_4=&poid_5=&poid_6=&poid_7=&poid_8=&poid_9=&poid_10=&poid_11=&gridindicator=false&page=&sortOption=PRICE_LOW_TO_HIGH&viewItems=60&vertical=TOOL&cat=Mechanics+Tools&subcat=Torque+Wrenches&subcategoryid=-1073870549&catID=&pageNum=&displayTarget=Subcategory&beginValue=&endValue= === On a car, just about EVERY things under the hood should be torqued (and the tire lug nuts should be also). I used to just tighten things by feel but then I found out that I wasn't tightening (torquing) them enough. I was being too careful. Don't bother with the highend stuff (the digital and clicking tyep). They go out of spec. They have the advantage that if you are torquing nuts and bolts in wierd angles it is hard to see the dial on the beam type. I like the beam type because I can SEE the indicator climbing (instead of just waiting, waiting and waiting for a click). Having the proper tool is always a good thing. 4. AutoZone hooked me up with a strut spring compressor a few months ago. They loan tools by charging you for them then refunding the money when you bring back the tools. At least that's how they did it at my local store.
  5. Goto AutoZone. A torque wrench has a 90 dollar plus tax deposit while you have it. When you bring it back you get it all back. It is 1/2 drive and measures ft pounds and I think it has the metric conversion on it as well.
