Torque game engine help? I'm working with a team that's using the Torque game engine, and they said that they would give me a copy to use. They said they have bought the pro version and tell me that you can give the pro version out (apparently). Is this legal? I searched the Torque website but couldn't find anything about it. Thanks.

What kind of scripting does the torque game engine advanced use. Where can one learn this? is it difficult? Hello. I am leaning towards developing a free game just to get familiar with game development and i am leaning towards buying Torque Game Engine advanced. I was wondering what type of scripting the TGEA uses and how can i learn it? I just want to know the background of how it works before i buy the product. Also might i ask if me (being a 14 year old unfamiliar with any scripting, but with allot of time on my hands and inspiration) do you think i can accomplish learning the script and making a basic simple RPG in not too long with this program?
What is a good 3D game making engine without much programming knowlege? I've searched over the internet for some pretty sweet game making engines but i'm not sure which is the best one for me. Here's the list Torque game engine 3D World Studio Caligari gamespace 3D gamemaker (prefer not to use it) gamestudio/A7 Which game engine is the best for a beginner, but has great graphics. Feel free to give me any other suggestions.

Torque Game Engine Tutorial? I'd like a good Torque tutorial. I have no programming background unless modeling counts. All I want is a link to a good ,for begginers, tutorial link. I'd prefer no downloads but if a download is needed tell me how to download. Please don'y give me the codesampler tutorial. And No I don't have any version of the Torque creator thing. What game builder/game engine is best for my kid to start with? My son (9.5 yrs) wants to build a multi-player online game with cool graphics for his classmates to play. I'm looking for something that is probably menu-based/drag and drop/GUI that is not so sophisticated or complex that he will be unable to get started. He has no programming experience and any introduction to programming would have to quickly lead to graphically pleasing results to keep him engaged. I looked at sites for several game engines (Torque, Unity) but they looked too sophisticated for a beginner. I would appreciate any suggestions and experiences to share. Thanks.
What is a good engine for 2D Game development? I'm a lone game developer (still learning programming too) and am thinking of getting the assistance of a game engine, preferably one that could do 2D games. I have heard of some of the choices such as Torque Game Builder, Mike Overmaur's Game Maker, and BlitzMax, but I was wondering if there were others that might be beneficial in looking into? I'd prefer something that had network capabilities and could be extended through use of .DLLs but something that had it's own scripting language and stuff would be cool too (help me in learning my languages) What is a good 2D game engine?
Torque 1.5 game engine and master server? Hello, i am working on the development of a game prototype and am having problems with the networking side of things, I have a dedicated windows 2k3 server in the US, that is supposedly running the dedicated master server as well as 3 other dedicated game servers, I have the client installed on windows xp here on my computer in the UK. The problem i seem to be getting is that the client cannot find the master server and thus not get the game list from it...it just cant seem to find the master server even tho it is looking on the correct port..im at a loss atm so if any one knows how to setup a master server and have clients connect to it successfully then please contact me as i could use some help.. thanks steve

What 2D Game Engine should I look into purchasing? I'm looking into buying a Game Engine that focuses on 2D platform type games. I've been looking at some of my choices and so far all have run across is Game Maker, Torque Game Builder Pro (Pro because it includes the source code which I could then edit) and BlitzMax. Price isn't a big deal, but I would hate the thought of paying $250 for a license for Torque Game Builder when $80 for the BlitzMax would work just fine or that it all could be done for free. I've been reading the reviews for all three engines and taking into account features of each. The most important feature to me is to be able to network (Possibly create a 2D MMORPG) and that it comes with source code that is editable with C, C++, or C#, which are my languages of choice and growing expertise. This project I have in mind is purely for fun, which is why I don't wish to make an engine from scratch and would like an editable one, but I also am taking into consideration the ability to sell games I make without royalty
What is a good first person shooter game engine? I am looking for one with live updating, so i dont have to reload every time I change somthing. Like torque. But I want a simple, in engine object editor that works like vector-works, so i dont have to load in all of my objects. Good lighting, particle, and terrain editors are a must. Some preloaded AI features would be nice. Shareware version would be excellent. PLZ HELP! thanx.
Game Engine Programing c++ c# help ? Hi, I want to become a Game Developer for which i am currently learning c++ and visual basic. I want to know what all languages should learn for building my DX10 games for Windows. And my other question is where should i start from i.e. which websites should i refer which can guide me in Direct 3D programing. I really want to deploy my own game engine like Torque, Unreal engine. And I have also gathered many of my friends who are interested in this. Kindly help me with my quarries and doubts. Thanks
Is Maplestory ran on a 3D or 2D engine and other Game Engine questions? I've been interested in developing an online 2D game. Not necissarily an MMO, but an online multi-player game. I've been researching game engines that would be suitable to my needs and the only two I have been able to locate are: Torque Game Maker and Game Maker 7.0 I would like an engine that allows me to sell my work, contain the source code (so that I may edit it to my liking, preferably in C or C++,) to allow dll extensions, and support networking. Now from what I read, the Torque Game Maker supports all these features, but I can't find a single person who has actually used it. Game Maker 7.0, on the other hand (as I'm told,) does not contain the source code, but retains the other features I'm interested in. Are there other options? And to go back to my initial question, what engine runs MapleStory? Is it 2D or 3D?
Game Engine for Indie? It should cost no more than 200$, i already tried some engines and i have one that i satisified, but i still want to ask, do you know any good game engine suitable for indie developers? Me and my mates are going to use it mainly for windows so directx and HLSL shader support would be great. It should be either have it source open or can be extendable(like adding plugins, i.e. integrating newton physics engine). The game will be a third person adventure/shooter. we tried these engines before: Torque,GameStudio A7(aka acknex formerly known as 3d game studio),Ogre. Ogre is not game engine at all but it can bu used as a game engine after some work. We mainly looked on torque and GS, did some tests on it. on same pc and same room with same models, 45 models placed in the room. Valve's source engine had 200+ FPS GameStudio had around 150-170 Torque was sluggish it only had around 20-24 if we cant find a better engine we re going to use either gamestudio or source(game will be a HL2mod) it should be using c/c++ or java

Help Me!: Torque Constructor? I am having one hell of a time trying to figure out how to use Torque Constructor 1.0.3, part of the Torque Game Engine which sculpts polygonal objects. The provided faqs and help sites provided with the program won't let me use them so I need a site with some kind of help with this because it's really frusterating trying to use this. And don't say google, already tried that, that's actually what everyone tries before they ask yahoo and yahoo ask is usually a last resort
Torque for iPhone game development... What do you recommend? I am starting an iphone development studio and we are starting out with a simple app to get some buzz. However, once that app hits the store, I want to start getting into game development. I'm a professional Game Designer so I know the ropes ;) I'm just wondering though... What do you all recommend in terms of Game Engines? I know of Torque and Unity. Our first game is going to be a 2d based game because we don't have enough resources yet to handle the beast that is 3d game development. Any thoughts are greatly appreciated! Cheers!
What should I call my game and what should my game be made with? Ok, me and my friend are developing a game. The game is going to be a mixture of ROBLOX and Runescape. Our plan of the game is be able to build your own bases and protect yourself from other players weapons and maybe magic. We also want you to be able to play it free and you can purchase a premium package. We need to know a game name before even starting. We also cant decide between Torque Game Engine, and Unity 3D to make our game. Our names that we thought of were BlockVille, BlockCraft, BloxWorld and BlockMania. So what should we name our game and what should we make our game with? The game is going to be online. I am working on the website half and he is working on most of the game half.
Game Development. Where to begin? Hello there everyone. A group of my friends and I have long been interested in both gaming and computers and decided it might be an exciting idea to begin creating an RPG of our own. We've done a lot of research on this and figured our best bet would be to use an engine. I figure that the Torque Game Engine Advanced / Torque3D would definitely be the best bet. However - we are not really certain where to begin. What would you say are the first steps in a project like this? Before anyone tries to rant at me, we understand the work, time, and money that will need to be put into this. :) We just need some help with getting started. Any assistance is greatly appreciated! Thank you. Ideas? Absolutely! We've come up with all sorts of ideas for what we want to do. The problem we are having is just whether or not once we purchase the Torque engine, if that is all we'll be needing, or if there are other necessary components. If we have the idea, and can get the artwork - do we just start using the engine?
How Much Does a Game Designer with a Master's Degree Make? How Much Does a Game Designer with a Master's Degree Make? Also I'm I going about this right so far? My plans starting next year are: Note: The reason of the Army stuff is to help me pay for a lot of college since I won't have any help. 1. Join the Army as in 25B (Information Tech. Specialist) I know it's not related to games but I'll enjoy it. 2. Whilst in the Army attend Full Sail University for my Bachelor's online in Game Design. 3. While in College Build up my online portfolio with things such as levels for games in the Source SDK, Torque Game Engine, etc. 4. After getting my Bachelor's and leaving the Army after my first enlistment, join the Florida National Guard for a year while attending full sail university on campus to finish off my masters in game design. 5. Share my portfolio/resume around on the Internet and if no luck start with internships? Note: I mainly want to specialize in level design; any tips?
Looking for a good simple 3d game making program? I'm looking for a program that I can use to make a 1st person / 3rd person shooter / adventure game. I don't plan on putting anything over fancy in it besides variety. The game will have the same elements as half-life and Quake with add vehicle support and I'm hoping to find a program where I can use Mdl and Md2 files too including the common others OBJ, 3ds etc. Also one that doesn't demand the use and knowledge of C, C+ or C++ (whatever number of them there are) simular simplicitly as the rpg maker and game maker programs would be nice but not necessary. As a note I've checked the following programs already. Neo Axis Dark Basic (haven't checked the new quad <something> plugin) Blitz3d DX Studios (not fully) Esenthel (Plan to haven't used yet) Torque Game Engine (can't figure out how to get it to work ... in short stuck) Unity (couldn't fully test ....not so advance computers can't use this) Irrlicht (never got around to it yet just watched on youtube along with the others :) And many others.
Best and easiest to use game development software/engine? I'm looking to make a 2D top down, open world sandbox game similar to Grand Theft Auto 1 & 2. I've heard good things about Torque, but there seems to be so many others available, that I need it narrowed down a bit. We don't have any programming or scripting experience, so we need something easy. We have the time an devotion to learn to use whatever we eventually decide to use.
How do i make an mmorpg? I want to make an mmorpg like world of warcraft but realmcrafter and torque game engine is useless. I want an mmorpg that can make an mmorpg like world of warcraft and it can be free or cost money. I dont care how much, I just wanna make an mmorpg like world of warcraft. If thats not possible i would like to be pointed to sites that have programming language tutorials or tools used to make world of warcraft.
Best Game Engine? (free or cheap)? What's the best Game engine (prefer free or decently cheap) for indie game design? I have Unity and have looked in to Torque but I was wondering if there are any better ones out there.
Can Torque 3D Demo made games be put on the web for others 2 play? I want to create a game using the Torque 3D game engine (Just to see how its works a tried other popular game engines) I want to post it on the internet like Modd for example. Reading their licensed, http://www.torquepowered.com/company/licensing, I'm not sure. They enable building your game in the demo so it wouldn't make sense to not disable it like the other buttons. And the demo had limitations its self. If you fine a conflict, please post or tell be what block the the paragraph is in. Thank You. I hope it doesn't conflict. (I'm going to buy it any ways.)
What game engine should I use? Hey I'm looking for a game engine that have the ability to produce commerical-grade graphics in a online world, So far the choice for me looks like Torque, I want somthing thats visual and not completely scripting, I don't want to script while I'm terrain editing and placing objects, but let the scripting be only for the stuff that needs it, like coding a npc and walking system etc. torque is £199.85 for a package and would idealy like to go cheaper then that but torque has alot of good tools by the look of it. God bless, Dan.

Which free distribution of Linux is best for developing games? I have just recently bought the Torque Game Engine, and I can't get it to work on Windows XP. I know there is some software for Windows that would help me, but that stuff costs money, and so I was thinking I could try to find a free alternative. I already have a second hard drive to put the operating system in; I just need the operating system. I would prefer something relatively easy to install, but if it's not, and it's otherwise what I'm looking for, I suppose it will have to do.
what is the most important language to learn for video game programming? I've been browsing around the internet and im getting some different answers about the best language to learn to program video games. I've heard PASCAL, C/C++ and Visual Basic among others but i also hear to learn a bunch of them. Which are best to learn? Does it really matter which i learn first? And if i use game making engine like torque do i need to know ne languages? And just so you know i'm not interested in making a career out of video game programming... i just wanna learn how to do it as a hobby. Anybody offer some input? ty
The best way to approach programming? I would like to get into programming, specifically for games. What is a good way to get started right from scratch? I have the Torque Game Engine (GarageGames.com). I am somewhat OK with that engine. However, I was thinking of learning from scratch, too. Without the engines, & using just the basics. I noticed in 1998, Andrew Gower wrote his game, and in 1999, he completely rewrote. Not too soon after, using only the help from his brother, it later became one of the most played games of all time. However, that was using Java, and I heard it can be really laggy & slow. A few facts about my computer so anything that won't work for my computer won't get recommended: - Mac version 10.5.6 - I have xCode - Torque Game Engine 1.4.2 (Yeah, I havn't used it in so long. It's from like 2005) Any help is appreciated. Thanks. Torque Game Engine uses c++ & TorqueScript. How do you get c++ working on xCode? I've also heard c++ can have many errors. Is this true?
DIY computer for graphic specialist(3D)? please help, i want to get a new DIY computer by this weekend, but im not very good with hardware specifications. im picking up loads of 3D, running Maya, 3DMax, Torque Game Engine, doing Photoshop. in short i will be dealing with loads of graphics with this computer. i hope to get the best parts for my DIY computer. im thinking of getting a -80GB Hard Disk -2.5GB RAM is it sufficient? i dont want to experience frequent computer lags. also im not sure about the best deals of reliable graphic card. also, what size should i get? any other hardware i missed out? if so, please let me know. you help is very much appreciated, thank you!
GOOD 3d game engines with a GUI!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!? Anyone know of a good game engine that is Similar to torque but has graphics like Counter-Strike or Half-Life, Scripting is not an issue for I have experience in programing. I know of the many SDK's out there like crystal space and OGRE, I have created a few simple games with them, but i'm looking for a fast alternative that utilizes a nice GUI. I've used XNA and it is very impressive, but it's windows and Xbox 360 only, I created some good **** with it. I am looking more for a cross-platform editor that can be used on linux also.
Torque 1.5 engine and master server? Hello, i am working on the development of a game prototype and am having problems with the networking side of things, I have a dedicated windows 2k3 server in the US, that is supposedly running the dedicated master server as well as 3 other dedicated game servers, I have the client installed on windows xp here on my computer in the UK. Can anyone recommend me a social club name? I need a catchy, modern Non-Profit Corporation name for my social club I want to start at my school. The name should not be registered for a trademark, and not a name that someone arleady registered the name with a Domain Name. The club would be consisting of Computer Programming/Web Design club where members would work together to create and learn new programming languages by the use of game programming, using game engines such as Torque Game EngineTM and Blitz Basic 3DTM. Also, the club web designers would create a portal where people within the club would post their creations and plan to have one master programming project.
How to work with C++ for game Creating? I would like to make a game... Which 70% basically requires the game engine for that. But the thing is alot of game engines i see thats either free, cheap, or looks great are SDK's " Source Development Kit " But I want to know how to Compile/Build the SDK's to make the actually Game engine program to import my models into, I don't know how to use Visual C++ or any other scripting... Is there any starter tutorial series that teaches me how to use C++ / Build~Compile Engine? This would help much! The current game engine sdk's I currently like are: Torque Professional: http://www.garagegames.com/pg/product/view.php?id=1 and Ogre: http://www.ogre3d.org/ If not how to use C++ then how to use those game engines, thanks!
What 3D game engine do you recommend.? I don't want a 3D Game Engine that you have to use a in game modeler. What I mean buy this is I've tried Unity, torque. They all have this in game type programs where you have to learn there tool set to make the maps,or rig characters.Im really good with 3ds max I make models and rig characters all the time, and I don't wont to relearn some 3D engines in game type sandbox. Hope you guys understand what I mean, any suggestions?
Which game engine is best for 2D game? How much do small 2D games cost to make? I'm looking at Unreal Engine and Torque Engine. I think Unreal might be better for 3D, I also heard it's great for making a game which needs a very easy script engine. I need a professional's opinion. I'm the founder of a game development studio, and I do not program, I'm actually head game designer, but I'm looking to buy an engine for our current project and subsequent future 2D projects. One of our near future project will have various scripting capabilities, which will give the users tools to customize just about everything in the game, and make anything not in the game in addition to the core mechanics. How much do you think a game like this would cost development wise to make? I'm not looking for GREAT "OMG! So pretty!" graphics, but just "enough", so people won't say "OMG! So ugly!". Also, as a side question, how much do you think a simple normal sized casual game would cost for development, this includes programming, GFX artist, and SFX artist? This would be a time management game separate from the game mentioned above. Thanks.
Best gaming engine for use at a public school? Hello, and thank you for reading. My father just started teaching at a High School and he came up with an idea of doing a Video Game Production club. The only thing is, he hasn't used a gaming engine since Unreal 1 was top of the line. So what is the best gaming engine that is available for either free, or at a low cost for a public school? He needs to have it do Simulation, RPGs, and and First Person (non-lethal shooter of course.) We've googled a few, and came up with Cube2, Blender, Torque and Irrlicht but which of these would be best suited in your opinion for students in high school? Thank you for your time.
3D Game Engines for Beginners? I posted a similar question in the past about that topic, but it was overly general.Me and some friends decided to make a SIMPLE project and create a 3D game, maybe FPS, with basic physics and decent -not "astonishing" - graphics, as this is not our problem. We are willing to learn a programming language, so we got our hands on XNA for a bigger and better project after we get some xperience. For now though, we want to stick to a 3D game engine, preferably with physics, as XNA is for now a big frustration. Do you have any suggestions? Note: We want a free one, as we are just HS students, so we cant pay about 100$ EACH to buy Torque! What I also wanted to ask is,OK,say that we made the models, the music and other lesser parts of the game. How do we bring them all together to make a nice composition that we can call "game" ?
Unreal 3 Engine? I want to work with a relatively advanced game engine. One of them of course is Unreal Engine 3, used in games like Rainbow Six Vegas and of course UT 3. Is there any possible way I can get it for free ? I do NOT intend to make games for sale, just mods and projects for fun. Also, if you could suggest another good engine (the limits are a PC with 2.4 GHz single core, 7600GT Nvidia Geforce, 768 MB RAM, which is possible to be upgraded soon to 2.5 Quad Core, 4 GB RAM and 8800 GTS ) it would be fine. I want it thought to be more advanced than Torque, and of course, free.
I would like to hire someone (or a group) to create a 2D game for me. Any idea on cost? I'm no company owner nor do I have alto of money. I know programing but I don't program cause it's not my thing. I dont want to do a 3D project due to it's high cost. At most I'd like to handle the music and framework planning. Basically this will be a low cost dowloadable game that you can attain over the internet which is also a 2D Fighter. I'd prefer it using the Torque engine but ey which ever is best. Anyone can give me an estimate of what it'd cost for a development team to create a 2D game project nowadays?
Newbie Game development? I'm a newbie in game development, so here's a ton of questions: 1. I tried XNA, but it's too difficult. Is there anything I need to know first? 2. Do I really need to buy a license to use Torque? If yes, please suggest other engines. 3. Any suggestions for games to mod? Please note that I really have the drive to learn EVERYTHING needed for the above, study languages etc. I understand this is not something easy and I'm not from the people that say "Plz help how to make Crysis in a month easily?!Plz Plz help." Thank you.
now i know how engines work but diesels are a whole different ball game.? Ok so one of my favorite trucks was my 95' chevy half ton with a 5 spd manual transmission and a 4.0 liter vortec engine. quick truck. that thing had some speed. anyway. i've driven fast trucks and what not but all of them were gasoline engines. i've driven diesel trucks too but only for like farming use. my question is by buying a diesel will i sacrifice any speed and take off. i know i'll gain tons of low end torque but i also wanna have that speed and quick take off.
Torque Game Engine Won't Start Help needed? I have the Demo of Torque Game Engine and it will NOT start for me. The demo of demo of Torque Game Engine Advanced will load but I would prefer to have TGE working before I part with hard cash. All I get is a error when I try to start. AppName: demo.exe AppVer: 0.0.0.0 ModName: glide2x.dll ModVer: 2.42.0.32578 Offset: 0000e414 Which is infuriating. I have updated my video drivers and still no good! Windows XPSP2 GeForce 6700XL 3ghz D2 Pentium video drivers are 162.18 international version: 6.14.11.6218 A forum where I have asked for help.Link also provides more Info about the Game engine as well. http://www.garagegames.com/mg/forums/result.thread.php?qt=65207 Got it to start with compatibility set to win95-98 in properties. But still crashes when you go into the editor and stuff like mirrors won't work.
