torque/?/?/?/? what are some cheap ways (parts and mods) to gain low mid and high end torque on an old 383 magnum? i already put a smaller carb and a 1 inch spacer for lowend torque the carb is 600cfm
Torque????? So, when people say the BEST torque, what does that mean? the torque with the higest number? so like 200 lb-ft torque is better than 150 lb-ft torque?
How do you define Running Torque from a mechanics perspective? Here is my problem, I know a net torque applied to a rigid body will produce a net acceleration, but I don't know anything about the torque needed to maintain a constant angular speed. In particular, if an applied torque exists on an object operating at a constant angular speed, there is no net acceleration and therefore no net torque, which means there must be a torque opposite and equal to the applied toque to offset the net torque to zero?
What does torque mean for an electric screwdriver? I understand the general meaning of torque but do not understand how it applies to my single-speed electric screwdriver, which I also use for many light drilling applications. There are torque settings of 1-22, but I haven't noticed any practical difference among the settings. Thanks.
How engine torque output is related to engine displacement? How engine torque output is related to engine displacement. I see a car with 1366cc indirect injection diesel engine displacement delivers only 67Nm torque where a CRDi diesel engine around 1300cc (close to 1.3L) outputs 190Nm of torque! Is the injection technology responsible for this much difference in torque? Is the engine torque output is related to engine displacement anyway?
How to best explain electric motor speed vs torque curves? Where exactly should an electric motor operate on the curve? I am assuming it is between pull up torque and break down torque but why? How does this also deal with the stability of the motor? What happens if the electric motor operates past break down torque? Also, please explain percent slip and full load torque relationship. Why is it necassary to measure this value?

What is the relationship between torque and acceleration? I know higher horsepower basically means higher top speed, but what does higher torque mean? Does it affect acceleration, and if not, what basic property of a car does it affect? Please keep answers short and simple cos I've already heard the long complicated version. PS. Does turbo affect torque cos i know it increases acceleration.
What is the difference between torque and horsepower? I don't get it. Lets say I have a car that has 1000ft/lbs of torque but only 1 horsepower. What will happen when I mash the accelerator to the ground? What would happen if the car has 1000 horsepower and only 1ft/lb of torque?

How do you measure your cars torque and torque curve? I drive a 2008 Jetta Wolfsburg the car sticker says it has 200 horsepower and 207 ft/lb of torque. I understand the difference between HP and torque and how they're related but i was wondering how do you determine the torque at a certain RPM. Is there anywhere i can find a torque curve online or would i have to pay to take it to a dyno? Thanks!!
What's the difference between horsepower and torque? Whenever I check an electric motor's statistics, I NEVER see anything regarding torque. I see hp, rpm, watts, shaft size, but NO TORQUE. Can someone please tell me what torque is and how it relates (if it relates) to the motor's strength and ability.

What is the magnitude of the torque generated about the pivot point? A force of 13 N is applied to the end of a 0.63 m torque wrench at an angle 45° from a line joining the pivot point to the handle. What is the magnitude of the torque generated about the pivot point?
What's the difference between torque and power? Generally, I've had answers along the lines of "Torque is the 'turning power' of the engine", but what does that mean? Why isn't the max 'turning power' of the engine at the point of max power? If a given engine delivers max torque at say 3500 revs and max power at say 7000 revs, where would I want to keep the revs to get maximum acceleration? Why?

How much HP and torque is my stock transmission rated for? My 2003 4.3 Chevy S-10 is equipped with a 4L60E transmission. I know what that means, 4= 4 forward speeds, L= longitudily mounted (rear wheel drive), 60= strength rating and E= electronically computer controlled. NOW... here's my question, what does that translate to in terms of how much HP and torque it can withstand? i have seen conversion kits to upgrade it from a 4L60E to a 4L80E. What is the difference between the 60 and the 80? I'm trying to determine whether or not I want to rebuild my current tranny with a shift kit OR just swap it out with an already upgraded model. If I choose to rebuild it, how much can i expect to pay for the labor involved? Parts excluded.

How much torque to turn an electric motor? How can one find out how much energy/torque is required to turn the shaft of a (large) electric motor? I am guessing I am going to need a tool, but what tool? If anyone knows where information like this is available also that would help, like I dont have a motor myself to test, I am just looking for a ballpark answer for a generator design. So if someone says "the 9" dia. XXXX motor requires X Nm of torque" that would help too. Thanks.
What is the mathematical relation between horsepower and torque? HP and torque are used with abandon and interchangably by automotive engine writers, but it seems like they don't have a clue what they're talking about. HP is simply the measured by lifting a weight a specified height in a specified time, so what is torque?
What is the relationship between Torque and Horsepower? How is horsepower measured, and how can two engines with the same horsepower have different torque? I've heard all of the analogies and had many people try to explain it to me, and I still don't get it. Fundamentally, I think I understand the difference; it's the variation in the numbers from engine to engine I don't understand. Does anyone REALLY know?
How can i calculate acceleration and torque and braking? I have a project, im going to be using my car to acceleate frm 0-60. I will also brake from 0-60 adn see how long. How do I change the engine torque strut mount on a 94 Buick? I was told by the car repair shop that I need to replace the torque strut mount on my 94 Buick Regal 3.8. I tried to do it myself but can not fit the new one in because the rubber on the old one was pushed forward and the engine is sitting about 1/4 to 1/2 inch too far forward. The guy at the auto parts store told me to put the transaxle in neutral and pry the engine back to fit the new strut mount on. If I follow his advice, do I run the risk of messing up anything else that is now relying on the engine being in its current position? Also any advice on tilting the engine back would help.
When you brake a car with automatic transmission, where does the torque go? I'm thinking specifically of long braking, such as at a stoplight, where the engine idles despite your holding the wheels against the torque of the driveshaft. I'm especially curious why sometimes, if you start to release the brake, the torque lurches the car forward, while others, you can take your foot completely off the brake and the car will sit perfectly still until you press the accelerator again. Where does the torque go? How does the transmission know how to "read" the situation?
