Can you tell why the torque is greater when the level arm is longer? You can simply answer it by stating the familliar equation torque=Fr. But it is just a mathematical expression. I expect a more intuitional answer. Thx in advance.
How do I change the engine torque strut mount on a 94 Buick? I was told by the car repair shop that I need to replace the torque strut mount on my 94 Buick Regal 3.8. I tried to do it myself but can not fit the new one in because the rubber on the old one was pushed forward and the engine is sitting about 1/4 to 1/2 inch too far forward. The guy at the auto parts store told me to put the transaxle in neutral and pry the engine back to fit the new strut mount on. If I follow his advice, do I run the risk of messing up anything else that is now relying on the engine being in its current position? Also any advice on tilting the engine back would help.
When you brake a car with automatic transmission, where does the torque go? I'm thinking specifically of long braking, such as at a stoplight, where the engine idles despite your holding the wheels against the torque of the driveshaft. I'm especially curious why sometimes, if you start to release the brake, the torque lurches the car forward, while others, you can take your foot completely off the brake and the car will sit perfectly still until you press the accelerator again. Where does the torque go? How does the transmission know how to "read" the situation?
Any reviews on Precision Instruments torque wrenches? Was looking through ebay auctions for wrenches and came across a few of these and was wondering if anyone has had any experience with them. Are they quality tools? How accurate are they? Specifically the Dr. Micrometer Click Torque Wrench.
